In 1954, Ray Kroc, Milk Chopper Machine, visits the hamburger restaurant of McDonald’s brother in California. He is impressed with the prompt service and high quality. On April 15, 1955, Kroc opened its first McDonald’s restaurant in Des Plaines, Illinois.
The Netherlands gets its first McDonald’s restaurant in 1971, in Zaandam. This is also the first restaurant in Europe. Meanwhile there are over 240 McDonald’s restaurants in the Netherlands. The menu has been constantly adapted to the wishes of the guests over the years. But the formula has remained the same: friendly and prompt service, high quality products, a spotless restaurant and an attractive price.
