Paul “Palle” Lederhausen was in the early 1970’s supplier of machine equipment for street kitchens and kitchens when he visited the Ray Croc’s McDonald’s restaurant in Des Plaines during a visit to the United States. They got a good deal and Palle eventually got the offer to become a franchisee for Sweden and thus the founder of McDonald’s in Sweden.

Sweden’s first McDonald’s restaurant opened at Kungsgatan 4 in Stockholm on October 27, 1973. Then a Big Mac cost $ 4.75 and the potatoes were peeled and cut into French fries in the basement of the restaurant. 45 years later we are Sweden’s largest restaurant chain and Sweden’s most visited restaurant. McDonald’s has 12,000 employees, a turnover of over 5 billion, and over 400,000 guests are served daily at any of the country’s approximately 210 restaurants.

We serve really good burgers, we have a unique restaurant experience in a modern environment and we are Sweden’s largest private youth employer and create jobs with strong development opportunities in a labor market where many young people find it hard to get a first job.

We listen to our guests to constantly evolve and stay ahead, for example through new digital payment and ordering solutions, opening hours of the day’s hours and not least by serving food for everyone.
